Bring your records into the calculation.

Enter an employee workweek directly, or import a CSV. Save a JSON workspace to retain all entries, rate lines, corrections, and unfinished records. Nothing is automatically saved or sent to a server.

Start with the right units

Each workweek belongs to one employee identifier and the employer’s actual seven-day workweek. Enter hours already classified as nonovertime, time-and-a-half, and double time. Use disjoint categories, excluding premium-payment “hours” and leave time that is not work. Use each straight hourly rate and its shift differential; include hours worked at overtime in the rate rows at their straight rate. The console adds the overtime premium separately. Labor Code § 510 · DLSE Overtime FAQ.

Use a same-week flat-sum bonus only when it was earned wholly in that week. Longer-period flat-sum bonus records calculate supplemental bonus overtime only. Commissions and production bonuses must already be allocated to the earning workweek, with an explanation of that allocation. Import a CSV

  1. Download “CSV template” in the console. The template contains column headers and no sample payroll.
  2. Add one row for each workweek or flat-bonus period. Keep the header names unchanged. Use dates as YYYY-MM-DD and plain numeric values such as 20.25; omit currency signs and thousands separators. A zero is an affirmative input. Required blanks remain incomplete.
  3. Set kind to week or flat_bonus. Complete the fields for that method. Leave the other method’s fields blank.
  4. Import the file and review every record. CSV supports one hourly rate and differential per workweek. For multiple rates, use “Add hourly rate” after import and allocate the total hours across its rate lines. Save the resulting JSON workspace for lossless reuse.

A workweek’s rate-row hours are initialized from the sum of its three classified hour fields. CSVs may contain quoted cells with commas or newlines; embedded quotation marks must be doubled. Imports accept up to 500 records and 20 MB. Unknown columns, invalid numbers, broken quoting, and duplicate IDs in JSON are rejected, leaving the current workspace intact.

Match payments to the same category

paid_straight includes straight earnings for all worked hours plus entered incentive and flat-bonus principal. paid_overtime includes only the additional premium above straight earnings, not the entire overtime line on a pay statement. paid_break includes only the corresponding meal/rest premiums. Each corrective-payment field remains separate from the original payment history.

Meal and rest counts represent qualifying workdays, not individual missed breaks. The regular-rate method assumes general § 226.7(c) coverage; special exceptions and recovery-period claims require separate analysis. Ferra · § 226.7 · UPS.

Save and review

“Save workspace” includes all records, including unfinished ones. “Export selected report” includes the visible filtered records and their inputs, calculation traces, payment comparisons, and publisher links. Reports become available only after the full workspace passes validation. Overlapping workweeks, duplicate bonus records, and unresolved overlap between a longer-period bonus and weekly break premiums require correction first.

Amounts due and remaining gaps are wage arithmetic. They do not establish penalties, settlement value, or statutory cure. No excess in one wage category is credited against another. Rates retain full calculation precision; payable categories round to cents.
